Thanks for helping me pick my new single!

here’s what to do:

  1. Listen to the song

  2. read the lyrics as you listen if you like

  3. repeat for next two songs

  4. fill out the short form at the bottom of the page

 let’s get high

Remember that time we spent the whole day drinkin’

Sunburned and nineteen we weren’t thinkin’

about anything or anyone but Ourselves

Remember that time we spent an hour singin’

At the top of our lungs while our heads were spinnin’

From the joint that we found in the back of your brother’s truck

Now we got Bills to pay, deadlines to keep,

doin’ it all on four hours of sleep

Baby can we go back to when we were free?

Lets run through life blind

Just for tonight

Make time to clear our minds

A hazy lullaby

Let’s get high

Remember when we stayed up to watch the sunrise

You looked like an angel glowing in that new light

We made a big breakfast and slept in all damn day

Remember when we sat on your front porch swingin’

Talkin’ about life and all of its meanin’

Chain smoking cigarettes and staring up at the stars

Now we got Bills to pay, deadlines to keep,

doin’ it all on four hours of sleep

Baby can we go back to when we were free?

Lets run through life blind

Just for tonight

Make time to clear our minds

A hazy lullaby

Let’s get high

oh, Lets run through life blind

Just for tonight

Make time to clear our minds

A hazy lullaby

Lets get high

let’s get high

let’s get high

come back home

i settle into bed like the dust on the edge of every surface in this house

it used to be a home now it’s just wood and stone, but i can’t bring myself to get out

i roll over to your side and close my eyes and try to get some rest

but the smell of your perfume still feels this room and your memory haunts my head

What am I to do without you?

What am I to do without You?

Come back home tonight

Come back home tonight

I know you don’t want to

But I need you

To come back home

I awake to the sound of the trash men comin’ round and wish they were pickin’ up me

But I stumble out of bed shake those thoughts from my head and pour myself some coffee

I throw on dirty clothes lace up the boots you chose when we went shopping last September

I take the bus to work and even though it hurts I try not to remember

What am I to do without you?

What am I to do without You?

Come back home tonight

Come back home tonight

I know you don’t want to

But I need you

To come back home

the mine

Daddy worked the mine since he was 16

I just can’t say the same for me

I grew up angry and full of steam

I hated the mine and the pain it would bring

But it put food on the table and pills in daddy’s drawer

And when he got the black lung, he got to takin’ more

I was just curious, I wondered what for

Now I hate myself, but the mine even more

Funny the way it is

It’s funny, isn’t it?

How one little pill can make you give up free will

And the mine is the culprit

Well, now daddy’s dead and I’m on the street

My mother won’t even look at me

But the doctor can, and that’s all I need

Hitchin’ a ride to the pharmacy

Funny the way it is

It’s funny, isn’t it?

How one little pill can make you give up free will

And the mine is the culprit

Well, it’s a crumpled up script and a wad of sweaty bills

It’s another day of livin’ without gettin’ ill

It’s my whole life

I’ll go sleep by the mine and take a hand full of pills

Funny the way it is

It’s funny, isn’t it?

How one little pill can make you give up free will

And the mine is the culprit

Funny the way it is

It’s funny, isn’t it?

How one little pill can make you give up free will

And the mine is the culprit
