I settle into bed like the dust on the edge of every surface in this house

it used to be a home now it’s just wood and stone but I can’t bring myself to get out

i roll over to your side and close my eyes and try to get some rest

but the smell of your perfume still fills this room and your memory haunts my head

I awake to the sound of the trash men comin’ round and wish they were pickin’ up me

But I stumble out of bed shake those thoughts from my head and pour myself some coffee

I throw on dirty clothes lace up the boots you chose when we went shopping last September

I take the bus to work and even though it hurts I try not to remember
